History

As a struggling college student, I dread the interims (you know - the time in between sessions, when everyone scrambles around to get registered for classes, apply for financial aid and buy those dreadfully expensive textbooks?) It is not uncommon for the following chain of events to occur:

  1. Go into the bookstore
  2. Buy your required textbook for $250
  3. Use it during the semester
  4. Sell it back to the bookstore for $30
  5. See the exact same book being sold at the bookstore the following semester for the "used" book price of $195
This was the exact scenario I experienced last semester. Therefore, I am making a call to all college students to unite together to take control of our own lives and work together to stop the abuse. Stop being a victim. Help each other. We all want the same thing - to walk across that stage with a diploma in hand. We have so many challenges ahead of us (finding a job, paying back student loans, supporting a family). Why do we have to worry about being exploited by the greedy textbook companies too?

Therefore, I started this blog in hopes of making a hub for college students everywhere. I currently go to school in St. Louis, Missouri - so that is where I can personally provide some assistance in locating cheap textbooks. But, I invite students from all cities to join in the discussion and help each other find cheap books! This forum is open for discussion. It's time to make our own markets...
